Measuring our successes
BHCG membership continued to grow in 2009
Membership growth in the BHCG was strong in 2009. As of December 31,
2009, participation in the Humana Preferred (BHCG) network stood at 101,192
as compared to 81,938 as of December 31, 2008 – a 23.5 percent
gain. As of December 31, 2009, the number of employer groups in the BHCG
stood at 1,055 compared to 676 employer groups as of December 31, 2008 – a 56.1
percent increase.
Substantial progress reported on key BHCG goal
Moving southeast Wisconsin’s health care costs to, or below, the
Midwest average remains a key goal of the BHCG. (see the executive director’s
letter this month). Progress on this front has been substantial:
- Southeast
Wisconsin’s costs have gone from 55 percent above the
Midwest average in 2000 to 39 percent higher in 2003 to 9 percent higher
than the Midwest average in 2007
- BHCG members’ costs in 2007 were
at the Midwest average and 9 percent below the average for southeast
Wisconsin
Humana service unit exceeded
all its 2009 performance goals
